Tie-Dyed Cheesecake Brownies


December 8th is “National Brownie Day,” and what better way to celebrate than with a

pan of Cheesecake Brownies!


I am all about trying new recipes that have few ingredients and are easy to prepare, yet still look festive. This recipe for tie-dyed cheesecake brownies, fits that description, and would be great dessert to take to an office party, school party, or as a hostess gift. I found this recipe at southernplate.com several years ago while searching online for something festive to take to a family Christmas party.


It starts with a boxed brownie mix (or homemade brownies), then is covered with a red and green swirled (tie-dyed) cheesecake topping.


These brownies taste amazing, and I highly recommend giving them a try during the holiday season.

Tie-Dyed Cheesecake Brownies


Ingredients:

1 Box of Brownie Mix, plus ingredients required on package.

8 oz. cream cheese, at room temp.

1 egg

¼ cup sugar

½ tsp. clear vanilla

Red & green gel food coloring


Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

2. Prepare Brownie mix according to package directions. Spread batter into a greased 9x13 pan.

3. In a large bowl, combine softened cream cheese, egg, vanilla, and sugar. Mix with an electric mixer until creamy.

4. Divide cream cheese mixture into three bowls. Tint one bowl red, one green, and leave one white.

5. Using a spoon, put dollops of each color all over the top of the brownies. Take a butter knife and swirl cheesecake icing until blended and looks tie-dyed.

6. Bake for 30 minutes, or until set in the center. Allow to cool completely before cutting into bars.


Tips:

- Use clear vanilla and not the brown colored kind so it won’t tint the cheesecake brown.

- For best results and more vibrant colors on the cheesecake, use gel food coloring

- Make sure the cream cheese is soft and at room temp. before mixing.
